the latest...

Dani invited me to bring some of my jewelry to put in her& Anne's booth setup at the last rabbit show. She ended up buying my turquoise ad silver watch necklace (acckkk I didn't get pics of it!) , the copper and turquoise earrings(no pics again!) and the newest chain mail bracelet. Those were my only sales for the day, but I had a great time and she was excited to have me there, she liked my jewelry and liked that my style was different than theirs and made for a nice variety. I fell in Love with a couple of Anne's bracelets. they were amazing, maybe the cash flow will work out and I can hint to hubby that I want one of those bracelets for mothers day.... Unless I can find WHERE she got the silver cones that were so amazing. I am waiting impatiently for that damn stimulus check so I can go contribute to the economy by buying More beads to work with. The coin pearls I wanted were gone when I went back darn it, but i need some turquoise, some heishi beads, a LOT of silver beads and some heavier gauge silver wire and a few other things. I want to find/order some rings for chain mail in some different colors and sizes to get some more traditional looking chain mail weaves done. My little copper sure isn't going to cut it I think. AND I need a darn jump ring maker ASAP. I need a lot of things soon. But! I'm off to make a necklace with some turquoise and copper. Ill post pics later on.

Ok no more new jewelry for a while...I think I am taking a break!

Yesterday I went down with a horrible headache.. Got nothing done.
I spent the evening snuggled up on the couch with Mike. I realized that I havent done that in a while, it used to be an every day thing. Lately he has been poking at me while I am working on jewelry and trying to convince me to come sit and relax with him. WOW I was missing out. I didnt realize how relaxing it was to do that. I havent really spent any time with him in a long time, I'm always too busy and I didnt quite realize what I was missing. I think since my jewelry budget is spent for a while and I need things to get more made I will just call this a break from it. My plan is once he's home minimal computer and little to no jewelry projects. So there it is. So if theres nothing posted that is about jewelry for a while that is why. I am working on the "balance" in my life.

4 new earrings.

Ok these arent the best pictures, but I was working with horrible lighting... I plan to update them later when I have more time.

Amethyst briolettes and sterling silver chain. Fine and dainty.

Peruvian Opal and sterling silver chain. Just gorgeous!

Rose quartz on a dainty sterling silver chain.

Turquoise disks, coral rondelles, and copper beads on handmade copper headpins and copper ear wires. A snazzy southwest look.

I will take pictures of my copper woven wire bracelets. I'm still mastering this style and I am not sure its going to be my kind of thing.... Lots of flaws but still pretty.

Till Tommorow

Another copper chainmaile bracelet.

Ok no pics this time, I managed to start and finish another box chain bracelet yesterday just like the original without a few of the flaws of the first one. This one is about and inch longer too so it slides more on the wrist. Still not sure if I will LOS it or not. I have a request for a plain silver colored one for a friend of my moms.
I am contemplating a copper chainmail choker. Also today I think I will try another chain... I think it is called 3 on 3. But I may change my mind. Whatever I end up with I will put pictures up eventually. Oh I also made a copper woven wire bracelet last night, first try with this style and it has LOTS of flaws so I plan to try again.... Pictures to come.

For Now thats all.

Another piece that I finished a couple weeks ago.

I love this bracelet. Its a square chain out of copper with a hook clasp that I created. I am trying to decide is I want to use the liver of sulfur on it or not, I may wait and make another one to oxidise.

The pictures of the new pup.

So it looks like the new pups name is Baby Girl... (ughh soo unimaginative)

But here are the pictures of her and the fence I promised.

She is turning out to be Mikes baby.. I knew he would love her!

"Baby Girl"... Blue Merle Aussie

Mike & Baby Girl Taken a break from building the fence.

The fence along the driveway.

New stuff!

Friday I stumbled on some gorgeous Peruvian Opal barrels and fell in love, I plan to go back and get some coin beads of the same stone if they are still available. The color just sings to me! Soft and sweet, classy and simple. I couldn't wait to make a pair of earrings.

Saturday was the South Plains RBA Rabbit show, I only entered the first show so I could get out of there early which didn't happen of course....(I stayed until after 5 visiting with all my friends. ) I didn't place very well, but my friend Reanelle brought up a pretty little doe who was hard to beat AND David had a younger brother to my girl that was a show stopper! So it wasn't a disappointing loss and there is still next weekends show. I did stop and talk to the ladies running the concession and check out their jewelry and made a nice new jewelry contact in Dani of Uooak Creations. She invited me to bring some of my jewelry to display and sell at their booth at next weekends show so I am going to get a few things made this week! After the show as the day started to wind down and the bunnies were unloaded and the sun setting, I sat down and paired up some pretty silver dragonfly beads with some dark green pearls... I can hear fireflies buzzing the water on a summer day at the lake.

Sunday I made my first sterling silver headpins! They still need to be tumbled to make them pretty, but I am darn proud of them! I've made copper headpins before but these were the first silver ones. Of course Mike did most of the work since I am still not so sure about the torch he bought me,(and he thinks I am too slow and takes them away from me to finish!) I wanted a torch I could turn on and light and adjust and go and this one is very persnickety! I think I may save up a little money and still get the original one I wanted. We made some copper pins too, but they are not quite as pretty prepolished than the silver so I wont take a picture of them until they are prettied up. (Which will be AFTER I manage to get some shot for the tumbler and get it going.

Oh and the new puppy still doesn't have a name! Mike isn't being much help and the only thing I can think of is Skyler. So for now she is baby dog or baby girl.... Poor no name thing. I will try to get some pictures of her when we go back outside to work on the fence again today along with pictures of the new fence going up! Its really looking pretty, it is replacing the livestock fencing I had put up a little at a time the last 2 years. Using totally recycled fence panels! Mike is trimming down 6 foot panels to remove the bad parts at the bottom. I will take pictures I promise~

Till later!

Some pics of the first few things I made.....

OK so I found some pics of a few things I made when I first got started a few months ago, now I really don't like them.. I might redo them. I am learning more every day of what I want to do. So feel free to critique away...

Tigers eye and green pearls.

Red Coral and turquoise

Name the puppy!

Who would have guessed? Another dog!? Not me never.....
HAHAHAHA!
Yep we have a new pup and she needs a name!
Yesterday I brought home "Lily" a purebred Blue Merle Australian Shepherd puppy.
She is 4 months old. Southful brown eyes.
If it werent for the brown eyes she'd be our much missed Skye in the flesh.
Of course Mike doesnt like Lily, and his only suggestions were S2 (Skye@) and Dirtball(Skyes nickname)... Nope hell no wont work!
So she needs a name and I am clueless.... Skye is not an option!
We have Dakota Sun(aka Kody) and Seneca Rose (callname Razzle or Raz)
I want something catchy like those, a full name and a call name.
I'm no good at names anymore... HELP!

So I'm slow getting this going....

OK I havent taken pictures of some of the things I have made, and others I have already made I am thinking of taking apart and redoing. In just a few short weeks I have been doubting the things I just made, I want a classy unique look, and a few of the things I have made lately dont quite fit my design plan.

I have designs hammering in my head that I want to work on tonight, but tommorow is a rabbit show and those Fuzzy Lops arent going to brush themselves today. So while Mike is digging postholes (yaay!) I intend to speedbrush some bunnies. Luckily my main show girl is a shake and show coat, a quick brush and check and she will be good to go. This weekend and next weekend will probably be her last show run before she is retired to breeding so I REALLY need to go to this show. I had considered NOT showing tommorow, but remembered I have a pet owner coming to the show to see me and learn how to clip nails on their Satin.

Maybe tonight after the fuzzballs are groomed I can sit down and rework a piece I started the other night. I am working with the amethyst briolettes(did I spell that right) I got from Misti that I absolutely . I have a amethyst drop flower and a purple peacock blister pearl that I am combining with them. Of course I wasted my first round of silver wire when I hated the way it turned out, the new design I think will have the pieces seperated on silver chain. I can almost SEE it! I plan to make a pair of earings. I need to make the earwires I have pictured for them also.

In the next few weeks I need to order a heavier gauge silver wire, order silver beads and clasps, find some small purple pearls, buy some copper sheet metal and tin snips AND I need shot for the tumbler Mike bought me. I have the hardest time acutally making myself order things off the internet, I just hate it and its so easy.... I need to suck it up and get the things I need and get off my booty and figure out/setup a shop on etsy. I keep doubting my own creations though....

Oh yeah, I need to come up with a logo... Yikes... how will I ever get it all figured out? This is what I've wanted to do for years! I WILL DO IT! I WILL NOT STICK MY HEAD IN THE SAND AND GIVE UP! I can do this and will do this. That is my mantra.

Introducing myself!

Ok all the amazing artists on etsy.com that have those amazing and captivating blogs have inspired me to start my own. I hope to show off my own jewelry when I get more comfortable with what I am designing and fabricating. So a little more about me to start? I'm Serena, I'm 26 years old, married to my best friend and high school sweetheart Mike(10 years together and counting!), and we have one son, Wyatt(2 1/2) who is becoming my best "assistant" with the "Beeeeeds Momma"! We live on a small farm near Lubbock Texas, currently our only farm critters are 7 American Fuzzy Lop rabbits that I raise for show (check out arba.net for more info on that!) . The more normal critters in ours lives are the dogs, Tuff the Australian Cattle Dog, Dakota & Razzle the Australians Shepherds and Daisy the Dachshund, the cats, Kat & Sunshine, Hams the hamster, and EWEBUGS the Salamander that eats bugs....

Most of my jewelry design and metal fabrication is self taught and figured out by trial and error, with a tiny foundation started in high school art class and mostly forgotten(9 years to forget!).
I've always wanted to design and make jewelry, life just got in the way of actually doing it until recently. My dear sweet husband has only rolled his eyes at me a few times since I got started into this more intently and has been wonderful buying me an awesome torch, a tumbler and helping me find tools and materials (ok ok he does THAT so I will leave HIS tools alone!).

This blog will be under a LOT of construction for a while, so keep checking back!
