Home made goodness....

Gotta tell about my yummy breakfast this morning...

Home made yogurt with home made canned Southern Comfort Peach Jam....

The yogurt was made in my crockpot using the wonderful easy recipe found here:

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/10/you-can-make-yogurt-in-your-crockpot.html

and the jam... I dont quite remember where the recipe came from.. but its a cinnomony peach jam made with Southern Comfort. Home made and canned by me!

Talk about a yummy combonation!

I have taken some of the half gallon of yogurt I made and put in in a strainer lined with coffee filters and strained it down to make a yogurt cheese. Of course I had sweetened the yougurt with sugar and vanilla, so its vanilla yogurt cheese. I am thinking of pouring some Rasberry Chipotle sauce over it to serve with crackers this week. Its a great replacement for cream cheese. I cant wait to have time to try out some ideas... I even foudn some reciped for cheesecake! And I have about 2 1/2 cups of whey saved in the fridge to mix into a bread mix when I make bread in my new breadmaker later this week... YUM!

Not a wasted Sunday!

So the earrings i was working on last night are still unfinshed,  but Mike got the fishatnk reasealed and today we set it up and got everything working it is sooooo pretty!  Yaay!   This was my find of the year....  Someone was giving it away online,  I emailed her but never heard back so figured that someone beat me to it. So a month or so later I get a phone call.... she had her replies going to the wrong email and finally logged in and saw the replies.  SInce I was the first one and left a phone# she called me.   Its a 55 gallon with stand, lids filters and a few other dodads.   It had a small leak was why the decided to give it away.  A few months ago I happened to do some baby fish swapping with a guy online that mentioned he had been finding cheap ones like that and resealing them so I asked him what to do and now wala!   I have about a $400 tank setup for the $5 of the silcone the seal it.  Now the drawback... I had to get rid of my computer desk/worktbench....  So the laptop is homelss and all my jewlery stuff is finally neatly packed in my cabinet.  BUT.. my living room looks sooooo much nicer.. (Minus Mount Saint Toy.... the mountain of toys that I found in every nook and cranny while rearranging furniture.   )   Along with that  Mike fixed our porch steps that were getting pretty dangerous AND he cleaned the bunny cage!!!  Without me having to nag and beg!    We did have a little ecitement today.... Mike came hollering up to the door screaming at me to come quick... He had almost stepped on a little bullsnake....  While he was threatening to shovel him to peices I caught him in a bucket... Hes now a pissed off bullsnake in a cage..   I am going to see if Chase wants him and if not turn him loose again... I had him in the aq. on te porch and mike kept fussing about it was about to get chilly and might kill him.. he told me to put the cage in the bathroom(HOLY SOMEKS BATMAN! THIS MAN IS PETRIFIED OF SNAKES!)  I told him I wanted to put him up on my cabinet where the cats and the kid(not afraid of snakes) wouldnt be able to get to him... and there he is..  Mike (the adult!)  has had to be scolded for teasing him and making him strike...  hes one MEAN snake  hissing and striking!.    He seems to be chilling out a little.   Sooo wow what a crazy day so far.   Since I am rearranging the house for the aquarium I have tons of stuff laying around that has been dispalced and I am trying to organize my house better and straighten it up.   Got lots to do so I better get moving.. that and I promised mike cookies and I want to make homemande chicken broth to freeze for thanksgiving.   Busy busy!

Working on a few things.

So I got enough silver to get moving a little bit here... Swung by gemstone junction.  Didnt get everything I wanted of course... grrr... I talked myself out of the black spinel briolettes and the garnets briolettes but I got some turqouise teardrops, some more black ony teardrops and a set of faceted rough garnets that are pretty interesting.  I am working on a set of earrings right now with the prettiest pair of turqouise drops.  then I am not sure what I am going to do.  I have headpins in the tumbler and am tumbling the last necklace I made with the rubies, rose quartz and sterling heart.  I think it will go in the LOS this weeknd and see how I like it. I am hoping that will help pop the pink in the rose quartz.  Tommorow I thinks I will get my but in gear and take pictures and list some stuff.  Its getting late,  gonna go check the tumbler.

tick Tock tick Tock

So I havent had a chance to make any new jewlery since the last set of earrings. Need silver... BAD! Its soo boring. I get paid Saturday so hopefully I can order some wire and get some other beads I have been wanting and get to creating. I really want to make another set of earrings like the last pair but with my amethsyt rondelles. I need more twisted earwires, and silver wire, and some more of the black onyx rondelles..... Time to make shopping list.

A month to go until Thanksgiving....

This year we are gonna shake things up for thanksgiving.   Mike is planning on smoking turkeys (ours and some neighbors always send some over...) and we are planning now to have some firends over for dinner.  Those friends are a family of 6!  So we will be cooking for 9!!  Wow.   Usually its just us 3 and we go to Mikes paretns for lunch so nothing too big.   I am excited and a little worried.  Ive never cooked for that many before.   YIKES!    I will need to make lots of food!   Wyatt will like it though,  one of the boys is his age and they just have a ball being little dirtball boys together.  I sure am glad we have all the extra toys.   It will be crazy butr fun.  Nice to have another set of parents around that we enjoy spending time with.

Gnight!

Yummy Yummy Lemon bars for my tummy

I have been craving lemon bars for a while,  bought a mix and burned it to a crisp...(hey I was sick and fell asleep)  the only reason I bought a mix was I was lazy... Today while my now sick hubby is lazing around and watching the new Indiana Jones movie I am making lemon bars from scratch using this recipe from The Homesteading Housewife.

The crust smells darn good.  I cant wait until they are completely done!  YuM!
